Modalities Used
Gottman Method: Gottman Method Couples Therapy and technique to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy; and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship. EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.
TFCBT: (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy)- North Carolina Child Treatment Program Trained Clinician and placed on a listed public web-based roster. Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy is an evidence-based treatment approach shown to help children, adolescents, and their parents (or other caregivers) overcome trauma-related difficulties, including child maltreatment. TF-CBT helps children address distorted or upsetting beliefs and attributions and learn skills to help them cope with ordinary life stressors. It also helps parents who were not abusive to cope effectively with their own emotional distress and develop skills that support their children.
Complementary Therapeutic Options: Comprehensive Wellness Approaches: Our practice embraces both traditional counseling techniques and a spectrum of complementary wellness approaches. These include reflective practices with Tarot and Oracle cards, insightful Past Life Exploration, and various spiritual practices that may encompass the use of candles, space cleansing, crystals, and other elements aligned with holistic well-being. We hold these practices with great respect for all personal beliefs and cultural backgrounds, integrating them into your personalized care with sensitivity and care. It's important to recognize that such specialized approaches are non-conventional and, as such, are generally not covered by insurance policies. These services are offered to provide a fully rounded therapeutic experience, aiming to nourish the mind, body, and spirit in unison.
Incorporating Therapeutic Card Modalities:
Oracle Cards:Oracle cards are a set of cards with images, symbols, or words designed to provide insight, guidance, and inspiration. These cards are often used in a therapeutic context to stimulate self-reflection and open up conversations about emotions, thoughts, and life experiences. In a mental health session, oracle cards can be drawn and interpreted to explore feelings, set intentions, or gain a deeper understanding of personal challenges and strengths. They can serve as a creative and non-directive way to encourage clients to tap into their intuition and inner wisdom. Tarot Cards: Tarot cards, rooted in deep history and symbolism, are a unique therapeutic tool. Drawing on Carl Jung's archetypal psychology, they explore universal symbols found in the human collective unconscious. In therapy, tarot cards offer a non-directive and creative approach to self-reflection. They help clients explore thoughts, emotions, and hidden aspects of their psyche, fostering meaningful discussions and promoting self-awareness. Tarot readings can assist in setting goals, making decisions, and gaining insight into personal narratives. Their use is always client-initiated, respecting their therapeutic goals and beliefs, ensuring an empowering and collaborative approach to mental well-being. Shadow Cards: Shadow cards are a more specialized type of therapeutic card deck designed to help individuals explore and integrate their shadow self—the parts of their personality or experiences that are often hidden or repressed. These cards typically contain imagery and themes related to shadow work, which involves acknowledging and working through inner conflicts, fears, and unresolved issues. In a mental health session, shadow cards can be used to facilitate deep introspection and self-acceptance. They can help clients confront and heal past traumas or unprocessed emotions, ultimately promoting personal growth and self-transformation.
